Shrewsbury, birthplace of Charles Darwin, is the county town. Explore
the medieval cobbled streets, riverside walks and the magnificent Abbey
Church, renown as the home of the fictional Brother Cadfael.
Just down the road is Ludlow with its spectacular Castle, famed for its
annual arts festival and the proliferation of Michelin recommended restaurants
(more than any other town outside London).
And don’t miss the beautiful black & white town of Much Wenlock
where Dr. William Penny Brookes inspired the Modern Olympic Games, or
medieval Bridgnorth, perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the River
Severn and perhaps one of the most spectacular inland town settings in
Britain.
