Have you ever wanted to learn more about the Shuts and Passages around Shrewsbury? Ever wondered how some of our streets got their names? What was life really like in Shrewsbury during the Victorian age? During the summer of 2008 there will be a series of Saturday evening guided walks around Shrewsbury which will answer these questions and many more.
Starting in July there will be a series of themed evening guided walks around Shrewsbury on Saturday evenings. There is a wide choice of themes to choose from, including 18th Century Politics and Intrigue, Charles Darwin’s Shrewsbury, and Famous & Infamous. Two of the tours will explore the Shuts & Passages and one will cover the Inns & Taverns. Floral Shrewsbury is also covered as well as two tours looking at Victorian Life in the town.
All guided walks will last and hour and a half, and they start from The Square at 6.30pm. The first tour is on Saturday 5th July and then on each Saturday throughout July, August and September. Adult tickets are £4.00 and children (under 16) are £2.50 each. Tickets are available in advance from the Visitor Information Centre.
