The Edge Arts Centre and Mary Elliott of Twenty Twenty gallery are collaborating to stage this new annual event. This year the event is open to all artists in Shropshire. This will alternate each year with a student only exhibition.
Alison Vermee, Manager of the Arts Centre said, “We have recognised that exhibition opportunities in Shropshire are not plentiful, especially for emerging artists. This is something that we hope The Wenlock Open will help to address.
Each year, Mary Elliott of Twenty Twenty gallery in the town will select one artist whose work she will exhibit at her gallery. The intention is to create opportunities for artists not only to show their work but to then move forward with their careers. There will also be a public vote for most popular piece of work”
Mary Elliott said, “I am delighted to be working with The Edge Arts Centre in this new opportunity for Shropshire artists. The Edge brings some of the best in live performance to Much Wenlock and with The Wenlock Open we are looking forward to attracting a high standard of work from both professional and amateur artists. It should be a great show and the start of an exciting annual event.”
The deadline for submissions is 3rd June. Entry forms are available from The Edge Arts Centre or can be downloaded from the Arts Centre website at www.edgeartscentre.co.uk .
