Facilities
The Pottery has full independent central heating, a wood burning stove, hair dryer, TV, DVD player with integrated CD player, a separate radio, seasonal solar water heating, barbecue, fresh spring water and parking on site.
The village shop and Post Office are half a mile away, as is the village pub, serving real ale and good food. Church Stretton town and train station is one and a half miles away, the county town of Shrewsbury, with its timber-framed buildings, 11 miles. Wenlock Edge and Much Wenlock town is 8 miles and Ludlow, with its Michelin starred restaurants, 15 miles.
The Long Mynd plateau rises to the west of The Pottery and the Lawley and Caer Caradoc hills, across the valley, beautifully reflect the changing lights and shades of the day.
A deed of sale from 1864 refers to a cottage, outbuilding and cow house on the site: the latter has long gone, but we believe the outhouse was used to stable a horse and trap into the early 20th century. The subsequent history is sparse, but we believe the smallholding was used for egg production during WW2.
Children are very welcome (we are happy to provide a cot, high chair and stair gates if you need them) but sorry, no smoking and no pets.
We look forward to welcoming you! |
