Event Details

Filmed by Powell & Pressburger in 1949 in the glorious south Shropshire countryside, Mary Webb’s classic story has entered local folklore and is firmly embedded in the family histories of the 300 local extras who took part in the filming on location in Much Wenlock, Apedale, the Stiperstones, Lordshill and Chapel Lawn.

In 2005 the Lordshill project recorded the memories of some who took part and produced a double CD.

This live performance will include reminiscence, original music, songs, archive footage of the filming, music, dance and Shropshire dialect.

With Val Littlehales, John and Sally Kirkpatrick, Richard Beaumond and the Border Poets.
