Saturday 31st May to Sunday 22nd June 2008
A Review
The 2008 Much Wenlock Festival came to a close on Sunday evening with a final concert in Wenlock Abbey, home of the actress Gabrielle Drake and her artist husband, Louis de Wet. Four students from the Birmingham Conservatoire played to a capacity audience amidst the splendour of this wonderful venue and provided a fitting end to three marvellous weeks.
With 23 different events to choose from, including a spectacular production of Richard III during the second week, this year’s festival has undoubtedly been the most successful yet. The sun shone and only twice did rain slightly dampen the spirits during three weeks of first class entertainment.
Festival spokesman Roly Trevor-Jones added
“We have enjoyed every minute and would like to thank all our supporters and sponsors who have made it possible. We set out to produce a festival that would appeal to the whole community and of course in Much Wenlock we do the perfect backdrop - we shall now look forward to the next festival in 2010.”
