Stream Cottage - Accessibility Statement
We
welcome everyone at Mill Stream Cottage.
The cottage is equipped and only suitable for a maximum
of 2 people.

Pre-arrival
Local transport is very limited, however there
is a bus service from Craven Arms to Clun.
Craven Arms is the nearest train station (12 miles) and
the line runs between Manchester and Newport.
Parking
and arrival
We are 3 miles from the village of Clun located
off a small single track lane. The parking area is flat
gravel, with space for 2 cars, the adjacent lane is on
a steep slope. There is a large metal gate which makes
the parking area private. We ask that the gates are kept
closed at all times to keep the area stock proof.
We can assist guests with luggage.
Main
entrance
There are 3 wide paved steps down from the parking
area to the front door which is under a small storm porch
with light. There is a stone wall next to the steps with
no hand rail.
The main door also has access from the lane via a paved
path with shrub border on each side and pedestrian gate
with 1 step down to level of main door.
Cottage
layout
The cottage is on 2 levels, ground floor and
first floor.
The living/dining and kitchen area is on the ground floor
and is level throughout.
The double bedroom and en-suite bathroom are on the first
floor and first floor is level throughout.
The staircase is open-plan up to the bedroom.
There are 10 steps to the bedroom with 1 turn and there
is a handrail on the right going up. Each step is 20 cm
high and 73 cm wide, but wider for the 4 steps on the
turn. There is a wall light half way up the stairs with
a switch at the bottom and top of the stairs.
Living/dining
and kitchen area
A front door key is provided on arrival. The
main door is half glazed with an inside curtain for privacy.
There are 4 ceiling spot lights controlled from the front
door, all with adjustable positions, an over the sink
light and cooker hood light. A small torch is provided.
Heating is by night storage heater which is adjustable,
wood-burning stove and with extra heating from a small
fan heater.
Hot water has a pre-set timer to come on overnight with
a manual booster switch.
All cooking is by electricity and there is a microwave
oven.
Both windows are double glazed and are lockable with roman
blinds for privacy.
Bedrooms
1 side of the ceiling is sloping with a double
glazed velux window and black-out blind. There is no serious
impairment to movement in the room. There is also a double
glazed window at the top of the stairs overlooking the
lane which is lockable, with lined curtains for privacy.
The main ceiling light is controlled from the switch at
the top of the stairs and also above the bed. There are
bedside lamps for each side of the bed.
The double bed is 4ft 6ins wide. The duvets and pillows
are synthetic making them suitable for guests with allergies.
An extra blanket and pillows are available in the cottage.
Heating is by night storage heater and is adjustable.
Bathrooms
The bathroom is en-suite to the bedroom. There
is a bath with hand held shower attachment with hook up
for a stand-up shower over the bath. There is a glass
shower screen and non-slip mat.
Heating is from a wall mounted fan heater, and there is
a shaver point light above the mirror over the sink.
There is an extractor in the ceiling.
The window has frosted glass and a roman blind for extra
privacy.
Small
patio
Access to the patio is from the steps leading
from the parking area.
Assistance
dogs and other pets
Assistance dogs are welcomed by arrangement.
We do not accept dogs (or other pets) that are not assistance
dogs in the cottage.
Other
information
Brochures are available in large print on request.
There is no mobile phone reception in the cottage, however,
Vodafone mobile phones will get a signal on the lane by
the river. Guests are welcome to use our land-line in
the main house opposite the cottage.
The cottage is non-smoking throughout.
At
