Miller’s House - Accessibility Statement
We
welcome everyone at The Miller’s House.
The cottage is equipped and suitable for a maximum of
4 people and children over 8 years.

Pre-arrival
Local transport is very limited, however there
is a bus service from Craven Arms to Clun.
Craven Arms is the nearest train station (12 miles) and
the line runs between Manchester and Newport.
Parking
and arrival
We are 3 miles from the village of Clun located
off a small single track lane. The parking area is flat
gravel, with space for 2 cars, the adjacent lane is on
a slight slope.
We can assist guests with luggage.
Main
entrance
The main entrance door is reached via a gate
off the parking area and through the garden on a gravel
path which is very narrow in places.
The main door is under a small porch with seats and wall
light.
Cottage
layout
The cottage is on 2 levels, ground floor and
first floor.
The living/dining and kitchen area is on the ground floor
is open-plan and level throughout. A door from the living
area is at the foot of the stairs and a 2nd door opposite
is to a small shower room.
The stairs are steep and narrow and lead up to a small
landing with 2 bedroom doors at the top. The first floor
is level throughout.
The staircase is steep and winding. There are 10 steps
to the landing with a handrail on the left going up. Each
step is 20 cm high and between 78 - 90 cm wide. There
is a wall light half way up the stairs with a switch at
the bottom and top of the stairs and a small window.
Living/dining
and kitchen area
A front door key is provided on arrival. The
main door is a stable style and half glazed with an inside
curtain for privacy.
In the living/dining area there is 1 ceiling light controlled
from the front door, one free-standing light and one table-side
light. In the kitchen there is 1 ceiling light. A small
torch is also provided.
Heating is by night storage heater which is adjustable,
wood-burning stove and with extra heating from a small
fan heater.
Hot water has a pre-set timer twice a day, mornings and
evenings, but can be adjusted to suit guests needs.
All cooking is by electricity and there is a microwave
oven.
Both windows and the main door have either fully lined
curtains or roman blinds for privacy.
Shower
room
A small shower room with power shower, W.C. and
hand basin is at the foot of steep stairs on the ground
floor.
Heating is from a wall mounted fan heater, and there is
a shaver point light above the mirror over the sink.
There is an extractor in the window. The window has frosted
glass.
Bedrooms
There is 1 double bedroom with a 4ft 6ins bed
and 1 twin bedroom with 2ft 3ins beds.
Both bedrooms have 1 side of the ceiling that is sloping
with a double glazed velux windows and black-out blinds.
There is no serious impairment to movement in the room.
The main ceiling lights are controlled from switches at
the bedroom doors. There are bedside lamps for each side
of the beds.
The duvets and pillows are synthetic making them suitable
for guests with allergies. An extra blanket and pillows
are available in the cottage.
Heating is by night storage heater and adjustable.
Large
garden
The garden is private and only used by guests
in The Miller’s House. It is arranged as large flower
beds with narrow gravel paths running between the borders.
There is a patio area and night security lights to light
the paths at night.
Assistance
dogs and other pets
Assistance dogs are welcomed by arrangement.
We do not accept dogs (and other pets) that are not assistance
dogs in the cottage.
Other
information
Brochures are available in large print on request.
There is no mobile phone reception in the cottage however,
Vodafone mobile phones will get a signal on the lane by
the river. Guests are welcome to use our land-line in
the main house opposite the cottage.
The cottage is non-smoking throughout.
