Set in the Shropshire Hills

Set in the Shropshire Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and one of the few designated Tranquil Areas of Britain, Melody Hill boasts an elevated hillside position with panoramic views across to the Welsh Hills, and facing west, captures the stunning sunsets.

The cottage is perfectly placed for walks on the legend-steeped Stiperstones (a National Nature Reserve) or across the Long Mynd and Cardingmill Valley. Historic Shrewsbury, home of Charles Darwin and the world-famous Flower Show, with its shuts and passageways and excellent shopping, is just 20 minutes away.

The Shropshire Hills are renowned for their unique geology, wealth of wildlife and historical richness. Several Nature Reserves are close by and the area offers excellent walking. Explore the preserved industrial archaeology of the old lead mining areas. Or simply relax and enjoy the inspirational landscape that features in books by Mary Webb (Gone to Earth, Precious Bane), Malcolm Saville (The Lone Pine series) and Ellis Peters (Brother Cadfael).

Other attractions within easy reach include:
- Ludlow – ‘the perfect English town’.
- Severn Valley Steam Railway, Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway.
- Ironbridge – World Heritage Site and 10 museums.
- Much Wenlock – birthplace of the modern Olympic Games.
- Bishops Castle - breweries, galleries, bookshops.
- Montgomery - ‘a Georgian gem’ and castle.
- RAF Cosford.
- Secret Hills: The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, Craven Arms.
- Lake Vyrnwy – RSPB Reserve.
