Delightful town cottage near Severn Valley Railway and all amenities

Jacob's Cottage was built around 1840 and forms part of a staggered row of nine terraced houses erected along Ebenezer Steps. This is one of seven ancient walkways connecting Bridgnorth's High Town to Low Town, and Ebenezer Steps clings to the rocky cliff which once formed part of the Castle's defensive ditch. The former artisans' houses are well-known for their unique situation and distinctive 'barley twist' chimneys, and Jacob's Cottage, with its intriguing 'in-house' cave (reputed to have been used as a donkey stable) and two bedrooms, is one of the largest in the row.

The property has recently been restored to a very high standard, and great care has been taken to provide quality furnishings, fabrics and accessories throughout. Close to historic Bridgnorth town centre, the River Severn, open countryside and the famous Severn Valley Railway, Jacob's Cottage is warm, cosy and an ideal base for exploring the delights of this glorious county of Shropshire.

To get there: from A442 Low Town (Bridgnorth) Take turn near Fox pub on main road. Pass over the river bridge and follow the river on left, ignoring the Y-junction for High Town a few hundred metres on the right. Just after this fork the road swings away from the river to the right. Pass a Skoda garage on the left and pass under the (high) pedestrian footbridge overhead. After a couple of hundred metres the Severn Valley Railway car park is on the left and the Hollyhead Inn opposite. Indicate right just after this point. Ebenezer Place - the lower part of Ebenezer Steps - is at the junction with Railway Street. Park near the florist's shop and walk up steps - cottage is last but one in row.
