On the northern edge of Oswestry with access via Llwyn Rd. This is a fine example of an Iron Age fortress first occupied in around 300B.C. It is an impressive structure with its huge earthwork ramparts & ditches. Thought to be the birthplace of Queen Guinevere. Has wonderful views of Shropshire. There is limited car parking, access is free.
Oswestry was once the headquarters of The Cambrian Railways Ltd. The old Oswestry Station is now the headquarters of The Cambrian Railways Society Ltd, and a museum showing many photographs, railway memorabilia, and artefacts. Visitors can also see Steam Engines working in the summer months.
The Welsh Guards Collection is a magnificent exhibition of uniforms, arms, artefacts and memorabilia, which depict 'the life in the Welsh Guards' since its formation in 1915.
The 15th Century building, once a grammar school, houses the Tourist Information Centre, Shropshire Poacher Coffee Shop, and exhibition display areas. All year round displays feature events of local interest from schools, Oswestry Societies, individual artists and craftspeople.
