Festival at Ludlow Castle
Ludlow Castle

The Ludlow Food Festival is set to be even tastier this year with new attractions and an expanded festival site. There will be more exhibitors than ever before, around 180, while the new Fringe Festival in the castle car park will play host to all manner of food and drink related activities.

In the castle itself will be 140 of the very best local artisan food producers. Across the weekend the finest chefs and experts will be taking to the two stages to delight audiences with a range of talks, some of them interactive, so you can have a go at making bread or linking sausages.

Friday at the Ludlow Food Festival is Michelin day when the cream of the profession descend on the festival to share their talent and passion with visitors. This year promises to include some well-known faces from the culinary world.

Returning to Ludlow for the weekend to run the prestigious Festival Restaurant will be some former Ludlow icons – Shaun Hill, Claude Bosi and Glynn Purnell. Shaun and Claude both helped establish Ludlow’s reputation when they had restaurants in the town, while Glynn Purnell was Claude’s sous chef in 2002 before cementing himself as one of the boldest and most innovative new chefs.

The Fringe festival is set to be a great new attraction this year. Taking place on Saturday and Sunday there will be 40 additional exhibitors, Michelin cook-off with The Big Green Egg, children’s cookery classes and a street party atmosphere thanks to the Big Jubilee Lunch team. It’s the perfect place to unwind after all your food shopping.

Of course the ever-popular sausage, ale and bread trails will also be taking place along with the pudding tasting and Sunday producers market.

The new festival programme is out now and can be downloaded from the festival website www.foodfestival.co.uk  you can also purchase tickets online now.
