Visitors can also meet Lonnie’s trusty companion Magic the quarter horse who will be taking up permanent residence at the farm and is due to have a foal later this summer.
Families can look forward to a fun filled weekend of traditional cowboy skills such as the art of lassoing, a bucking bull competition, rifle range activities and kids barrel racing along with being educated in the Western way of life - something that children nowadays seem to have forgotten.
Hoo Farm will be somewhat different to Lonnie’s Lonesome Spur ranch back in Montana, which became the model for the homestead featured in the best selling novel ‘The Horse Whisperer’ by Nicholas Evans, however nothing a true cowboy won’t be able to deal with.
Other activities throughout the weekend will include lamb, goat and calf feeding, pony rides, junior quad bikes and sheep and goat racing.
Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom is located at Preston-on-the-Weald Moors, near Telford
Hoo Farm will be open from 10am to 6pm; entrance is £5.75 adults; children 2-14 years £5.25; 60 plus £5.50 and under 2s free. For more information call 01952 677917 or visit www.hoofarm.com.
