The annual event takes place between 11am and 4.30pm on Sunday 11 May in the outer courtyard at the National Trust property near Shrewsbury.

A wide range of shrubs, herbs, annuals, perennials and bedding plants will be on sale grown in peat-free compost by National Trust volunteers, the National Trust Plant Centre and local nurseries. Volunteer experts will be on hand to offer top tips on gardening and plants.

Visitors will be able to seek advice about their poorly plants at a special Plant Problem Advice Desk led by Dr Stephen Reynolds, local expert on pests, diseases and disorders of garden and glasshouse plants and many volunteers will be on hand to help with plant identification.

Attingham Parks Gardener Colin Morris says: “The Plant Fair is an excellent opportunity to discover a wide selection of plants and stock up the garden ready for the summer. We advise people to come along early to be sure of the best bargains as the event is always very popular!”

There will also be the chance to browse stalls selling locally-produced food and craft items.

Why not take the opportunity to stroll through the grounds at Attingham and see the wonderful bluebells. Most notably the area of the property between the stables and the house has a beautiful carpet of the spring flowers and they make a lovely view in the wooded area.

The tea-room will be open from 10.30am for a welcome drink and delicious slice of homemade cake.  Take the time to visit the well stocked shop as well, to pick up accessories for the garden to help with planting your purchases.

Normal grounds admission charges apply and there is no additional charge for entry to the Plant Fair.
