Attingham Deer-2

National Trust wardens will talk about what the animals eat, how they interact and how they are managed.

There will be deer park walks on the Saturday and deer park rides on the Sunday at 12noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.

Senior Park and Estate Warden Colin Morrris said: “There will be the chance to ask us questions about the deer and the park, and it’s also great opportunity to simply enjoy some beautiful views of Attingham.”

The 8th Lord Berwick, the last owner of Attingham Park, was particularly fond of the deer and used to visit them daily when he lived at Attingham.

Fallow deer are smaller than red deer, which are Britain’s largest land mammal, and they were introduced into the country from the continent before the 17th century.

Tickets, costing £4 for adults and £3 for children, can be bought in the deer park prior to the walk or ride.

Families can look forward to the next Deer Park Rides event which takes place on 4 and 5 September.
