With help from National Trust guides, the tractor and trailer rides offer visitors the chance to see parts of the deer park not usually open to the public. Visitors can learn about how the animals live in the park, what they eat and how the seasons and weather affect them.

“We have a large herd of fallow deer living in the park,” says Deer Manager Colin Morris. “They are quite shy and the tractor and trailer rides are a great opportunity to take a closer look at them in their own environment.”

The rides take approximately 45 minutes and will run hourly from 12noon until 3pm each day.

Normal admission prices to the grounds apply and there is an additional charge of £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for children for the Deer Park Rides. Tickets are available on a first come first served basis from 11.30am.

Over the weekend and including Bank Holiday Monday, there will also be a Book Fair at the Second-hand Bookshop in the stables.

There is a large variety of books on offer - including cookery, novels, biographies and children’s books - but the volunteers who run the stall are keen to receive more.

Catherine Turnbull, Attingham Park’s House & Visitor Services Manager, said: “We already have hundreds of books for people to choose from, but would very much welcome more. All the proceeds from the stall are put back into the property.”

Previous bookshop fundraising has contributed towards cataloguing books in Attingham Hall’s Outer Library.

Anyone wanting to donate books for the fair can drop them off at Attingham Park Visitor Reception, daily from 9am to 6pm.

The Book Fair runs on Saturday 3 to Monday 5 May from 10am to 5pm (additional day compared with deer park rides)

The grounds and National Trust shop are open from 9am, the tea-room from 10.30am and the house opens at 1pm, with guided tours available from 11am. On Monday 5 May, the house is open free-flow from 11am.
