6. Essence of the Gardens

Created and designed by the Owners to create an open parkland ambience with ancient Oak and Field Maples flowing into Japanese themed Water Gardens with closely clipped conifers yet still retaining the classic beauty of an English Country Garden with Spring rockeries of snowdrops and primroses heralding a cycle of colour through rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, vast terraces of heathers and juniper to riotous herbaceous borders and the structural grandeur of trachycarpus, phormiums, yuccas and grasses.

At the centre of the Gardens is the lake spanned by the Willow Pattern Bridge and the Pavilion Tea Rooms reaching out onto the water over the lilies and the dragonflies. Designed to be tranquil, flowing and fun.
